Hypothesis We predict that the leaves amount of photosynthesis will depend on how it is covered. We think the black will have the least amount of photosynthesis, cellophane will have medium, and uncovered will have the most. Also, that the uncovered leaves will have more starch than those covered.
Purpose To determine if the wavelength and light intensity will change the amount of photosynthesis.

Purpose To determine if the wavelength and light intensity will change the amount of photosynthesis.
Materials
- black paper
- blue florescent cellophane
- plant-green
- scissors
- petri dishes
- tape
- paper towel
- test tube
- lugol's iodine
- tweezers
- black pencil
- plant-red
- mixing stick
- dropper
Procedure
Day 1:
- cover different leaves with both black paper and cellophane.
Day 2:
- Take off paper and cellophane and cut off leaves that were covered and not covered.
- Remove chlorophyll by heating in test tube in ethonal. Then rinse leaves.
- Test the color changes by placing in separate petri dishes (red plant tested separately) and put iodine on the leaves.

Data Analysis
The hypothesis that I had come up with turned out to be correct. The leaf uncovered had the most amount of photosynthesis, while cellophane and black paper weakened the photosynthesis. Although, my hypothesis was wrong about starch, but it showed up opposite of what i had originally thought. Some errors that make have caused problems was that is was hard to fully cover the leaves. Also, when you put iodine on, it was hard to place it on the leaf to get it to be all together. We could have tested this further by trying more types of plants and more types of paper to cover the plants with.
Reflection
I thought this was a very fascinating lab. I liked how we got to cover our plant our own way to vary results with all the other groups. Also, I thought using ethonal instead of water to heat the leaves up was interesting. My partner and I collaborated very well. We managed to get stuff done efficiently. Although, we were not very quick. We got side-tracked for a little bit which made us finish up a little later than most other people. I feel like I could have been more careful of what materials I was using and being neater with them. Also, I should have tried to understand what was happening in the lab better. Sometimes I would not get how one thing connected to the other. Other than those few things, this was a very successful lab and I really enjoyed it.
